May 16th vs Vellano Brothers
The star of the game was Adam Tenney. Starting his first game as a Pitcher in Majors, Adam pitched a solid five inning 71 pitch performance as JT Garry won 9-1. The scoring attack was lead by multiple hit days from Antonio Archina (3 hits; including a home run), AJ Mazzone (3 hits, yet another double), Tim Cramer (3 hits) and Jared Preszcrat (2 hits).

In the field, Shane Derusso had another assist from right field, throwing out a runner on a force at second base. Nick Blaauboer turned a 4-4-3 double play from second base. Joey Warner prevented runners from advancing while catching, and guarded the bunt at third. Sean Cramer and Dillon Nimako played well in the outfield, getting the ball in quickly on any hits.
May 15th vs 99
Yet another game where the team had to come from behind, this time with even more drama, scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth to beat 99 5-4. It was 10:00 at night by the time the game ended.

Despite being shut down for the first five innings, the team kept swinging the bats and hoping for good things to happen. In the sixth, with a run already in and two runners on, Jared Preszcrat laced a double down the right field line for two RBI’s and a tie game. After advancing to third, Jared scored on Tim Cramer’s fielders choice in between first and second when the throw home was not in time. Walk off win.

Great pitching kept the team in the game. A solid four innings by Tim Cramer was followed up by Jared Preszcrat and Antonio Archina for an inning apiece. Antonio also threw out two runners in the same inning while playing Catcher. AJ Mazzone made a great play at shortstop in the top of the sixth with runners out to get the third out and keep the game close.

Another game where the team had to come from behind. After a rocky start, AJ Mazzone settled down and pitched a fantastic five inning 83 pitch game. Jared Preszcrat came in and struck out the side to preserve the 8 – 3 win.

Adam Tenney led the hit attack with four hits, including two doubles, the last one off the wall. AJ Mazzone and Antonio Archina also had multiple hit games.

Web gems were lead by Shane Derusso, who grabbed a screaming line drive in the right-center gap to end the fourth inning with two runners on base already. Dillon Nimako made several good catches from his Center Field spot.

Larry Warner took over the J.T. Garry team after the 2009 season. Larry only had five returning players and quickly assembled a lot of talent at the draft, there are six players that are new to the Majors this year.

After three games, there have been a lot of thrills behind the 2-1 record. Big deficits in the first inning of each of the first two games have been overcome by the kids to take the lead in each game. While JT Garry ended up losing a tough game to Eastern Heating in the opener, the kids hung in there in their second game for their first win of the season.

In the second game,  Jared Preszcrat hung tough and protected a one run lead against 99 for the final two plus innings for the save behind Tim Cramer’s gutsy 86 pitch performance to start the game. It didn’t come easy as Jared had to shut down the toughest part of a good 99 lineup in the last inning.

The third game saw JT Garry bolt out of the gate with three quick runs, but a determined Vellano Brothers team chipped away and tied the game. AJ Mazzone pitched a great game and Antonio Archina came in to get the save. These two also had the big hits in the bottom of the fifth to re-take the lead.

In the three games there have been far more big hits than strikeouts for both teams, and far more great plays in the field than errors.

Hitting stars so far for the season include AJ Mazzone, Antonio Archina, Adam Tenney, Tim Cramer and Sean Cramer (yes, the notorious Cramer Crunch). AJ has already belted four doubles while Antonio has already went yard with a shot over the center field wall. The rest of the lineup has consistently made good contact and the balls will begin to drop for them as well.

Defensive gems include Joey Warner’s play from behind the plate against Vellano Brothers to scoop up a perfectly laid down bunt and fire to the second baseman Nick Blaauboer who was covering first base on the bunt. AJ Mazzone has made several great stops at third. Dillon Nimako is seemingly all over the outfield with his blazing speed. Shane Derusso is so far the best hustler in the outfield, backing up all throws.

…more to follow.
