Zack Shaw has been evaluated by his personal othopedic surgeon, and is being treated for a broken bone in his left hand. To the fans that saw him offer his hand to stop Dom Heralds “screaming rocket” line drive on Saturday night, this is no surprise.

Most mortals would have just heard that ball scream by. Zack on the other hand used his cat like quickness to get his hand up and in the way of that missle. Once it hit, it was obvious that Z had asked more of his hand than the bones would allow.

Coaches encouraged Zack to go to the hospital. Zack on the other hand sat in the dug out with ice on the broken bone and rooted his team on for the rest of the game. Zack is one tough kid.

For 4 years the Vellano team has been fortunate to have one or two Shaws onboard. Kevin was one of the best outfielders in the league, and batted in the double lead off spot. It was uncanny how many great rallys started with Kevin getting on base. When Zack came we had speed that is uncommon for Vellano, and great defensive instincts. Now with Andrew onboard the Shaw tradition continues.

The entire team is rooting for Zack to heal that hand. We look forward to having him back in the line up, and playing sharp defense again soon.
